ATI A15/66 Residual Sulfite Monitor
13
O&M Manual
Rev-W (8/10)
CHEMISTRY MODULE REAGENTS
The sulfite monitor uses a sulfuric acid solution with a strength of 15-20%. The exact strength is
not critical, provided it is sufficiently strong to bring the sample pH to 2.0 or below. A one-liter bottle of
50% sulfuric acid will be shipped separately to customers within the 48 continuous states. Due to
restrictions on the shipment of this type of material, the initial supply of acid will be dropped shipped by
our supplier but future supplies will have to be obtained by a chemical supplier of your choice. This acid
must be diluted to one gallon with distilled water. A square gallon bottle is furnished with the monitor. Fill
the bottle half full of distilled water and then add the 1 liter bottle of 50% sulfuric acid. Then fill the bottle
to just below the top with additional distilled water.
CAUTION: Use extreme care when mixing acid for use with this analyzer.
Always wear eye protection and acid resistant gloves when working
with this acid. Sulfuric acid can cause eye damage and/or severe
burning of exposed skin. Always put distilled water into the gallon
container to at least half full before adding acid. Absolutely never
put the acid in first.
A reagent bottle mounting bracket is supplied so that the acid solution can be located
conveniently below the chemistry module. The bracket is designed for wall mounting, and will hold
square one gallon plastic containers. When mounting this bracket, be sure to leave enough room
between the bottom of the chemistry module and the top of the bracket so that the bottles can be lifted
from the brackets. Note that these brackets are not supplied when the stainless steel mounting
panel containing the reagent shelf is ordered with the analyzer.
